Singer Vijay Prakash acknowledges his success to his mentors, attributing his musical journey to his family's background in Carnatic music. Grandfather Shri Lakshmipathy Bhagavathar was his first teacher, followed by his parents, the late Shri K Ramashesha and Smt Lopa Mudra, who were also Carnatic musicians. On Teacher's Day, the Jai Ho singer emphasizes the significance of having gurus and the continuous process of learning, expressing that one can never fully master all aspects of music. He believes that music, with its seven basic notes, offers infinite possibilities for exploration and growth. Every individual has something unique to contribute to the world of music, making it a lifelong learning experience. Vijay Prakash values music not only as an art form but as a bridge that connects him to people and the world. Reflecting on his experiences as a music student and a judge on various shows, he stresses the importance of kindness in delivering feedback, emphasizing the emotional aspect of music rather than a strict adherence to rules. One observation I've made is that the new generation interacts with teachers in a much less fearful manner compared to how we did in the past. Respect used to be associated with fear, but times have changed. Nowadays, respect can be shown without the need for fear towards educators. I find myself learning from this new approach as I attempt to transition from old practices. The growth I've experienced is not solely due to my own conscious efforts in learning, but also the dedicated teaching provided by my educators. While I may not have always been fully engaged, the unwavering commitment of my teachers played a significant role in shaping who I am today.
